Jaymes Saunders of Kecoughtan High School earns state championship in high jump

Congratulations to Jaymes Saunders, senior at Kecoughtan High School, who has earned the state championship in boys indoor track in the high jump. He cleared a height of 6 feet, 6 inches to claim the VHSL Class 5 2024 Indoor State High Jump Championship title.

Jaymes is a senior who plans to continue his athletic career as a collegiate student athlete and intends to further his education to become an architect. He has not yet picked which school he will be attending, but he has narrowed it down to five and is still weighing several scholarship offers.

“Jaymes Saunders is a very resilient and tough student athlete who is always willing to go the extra mile,” shared Coach Deon Moore. “Anytime we faced adversity he put the team on his back and carried us to the state title.”
