Bethel High School TrAIL Academy to hold bike drive

The Transportation, Analytics, Information and Logistics (TrAIL) Academy at Bethel High School is sponsoring a bike drive on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The event will be held at the school – 1067 Big Bethel Road, Hampton.

The students are accepting donations of bikes (for school-age children), bike parts, and financial contributions. In addition, they are offering bike repair saying, “we are willing to fix up your bike the best we can!”

Students in the TrAIL Academy partnered with Jeff Pugh, the owner of Hampton Strong. His vision is to get a bike to all kids in Hampton as a way of transportation so they can get around the city. Working with Pugh, the students have learned how to do basic bike repairs so they can fix the gently used bikes before giving them out.

Evan Bell and Ryan Goodwin are members of the BHS TrAIL project-based learning (PBL) Hampton Future Bike Riders team.

“The event is open to anybody,” shared TrAIL Academy lead Heather Woodruff. “The students are hoping for an excellent turnout.”
