Ariyah McKoy, eighth grader at Syms Middle School, gives opening at the March 20 School Board meeting

 

Ariyah McKoy, an eighth-grade student at Syms Middle School, was chosen to deliver the opening remarks at the School Board meeting held on March 20, 2024. She read a poem The Rose That Grew From Concrete by Tupac Shakur.

Ariyah's favorite subject is mathematics, and she finds joy in activities such as cheerleading, crocheting, skating, running, yoga, reading, baking, cooking, boxing, and expressing her creativity.

Ariyah was accompanied at the meeting by her mother, Syms principal Dr. Patrina Jenkins, and the entire administrative team.
