HCS students participate in the STEM Connect Community Enrichment Day

On Saturday, January 20, 2024, Hampton City Schools (HCS) participated in the STEM Connect Community Enrichment Day. Students and their families were invited through a partnership between HCS 21st Century Programs and the Virginia Air and Space Science Center. 

The event provided students and their families the opportunity to engage with community partners to learn about their role in aviation and discover possible careers. Students engaged in hands-on STEM activities throughout the center such as experiencing a brand-new flight lab, operating a variety of robot designs, and piloting drones through an obstacle course. This hands-on learning event sparked curiosity, ignited passions, and shaped their future paths in amazing ways for our students and families.

“This event strengthened the bond with families and helped parents gain valuable insights into their child’s learning,” said Dr. Christopher Kelly, director of federal programs. “The activities at STEM Connect Community Enrichment Day created connections that sparked meaningful conversations and experiences that support our students' educational journey.”
